designing my home page

This is my initial idea for my home page. I have made a banner for the top of my page with four repeated images representing the four different dances. The banner also includes buttons which when clicked will direct the user to a page with information and videos about that particular art form. this banner will run through all the pages so that the user can navigate their way around the different pages without having to return to the home page each time. As this is the home page, there is also a side pannel with buttons which also direct the user to the different pages. Iv chosen to colour code each button, this colour will also be the colour scheme for the page. i think it is imporant to make my website colourful as colours can help keep the user engaged epecially as my website is targeted at the younger generation.

I experimented with the side panel. I found some beautiful patterns and mosaics for each of the culture that the dance comes from which I want to incorporate into mywebsite. Iv decided to use them on the home page as buttons. I am also considering using them as backgrounds for the following pages.

I think that this page design is more suited for the later pages rather than the home page, i therefore began desinging a layout which is more attractive and simple for the home page.

This another idea I have for how i want my home page. I know that i definetly want a globe in the centre, this will ensure that my website ties in with 'the world is a global village'. it will also be relevant as the name of my website is 'dance around the world'. I thought it would also be interesting to have no writing on this page and use images as buttons instead as too much writing on the home page could put users off.

Here i tried the same layout but using the patterns i found as buttons instead, however i dont think that the user will be familiar enough with the cultural art to identify which button they need to click. I Like this layout however i feel that the images i have used on both trials lack consistancy which makes the home page look less professional.
