Concept
I have chosen to create a website which explores McLucan’s idea of ‘the world is a global village’; I will do this by creating a website which explores traditional dance in different cultures. The inspiration behind my idea is that I am a fan of the traditional Egyptian art of Belly Dancing, and I believe that like Belly Dancing, all traditional forms of dance are a significant part of culture it is also seen as an important mode of communication. They have been regarded as an expression of joy and sorrow since biblical times and are today an integral part of religious, national, community, and family celebration. My website will focus on four forms of dance from four completely different cultures, these will be, Belly Dancing, Bhangra, Irish Folk Dance and Hip Hop dance. My website will provide information about each form of dance and its origins. I will also conduct interviews with those who perform the dancers and videos which I will record myself of the dance being performed. The Target audience of my website will be the youth as young people need to be encouraged to keep fit and I believe dance is the way forward as it is the most enjoyable form of exercise. This also makes my website current and relevent to the times as fitness and weight issues espicially for teenagers is constantly being discussed in the media. To ensure that my final product is suitable for my target audience I will make my website attractive and creative in its use of colours and layout so that it is fun to use and engaging.
