Choosing A Topic
I began with researching McLucan's ideas of 'The Media is the Message' and 'The world is a global village', I found the latter more intriguing so I proceeded to brain storm a few ideas of websites which relate to my choice. I knew that I wanted to create a website which focused on different countries and cultures, I first though to make a travel website which focusing on how to explore the culture you are visiting rather than taking part in activities of a typical tourist. However I later dismissed this idea as i felt it was too basic and I would not be able to provide primary information on every country as I have not visited as many countries as I would need. I then decided that I was to either base my website on Music in different cultures or Dance in different cultures as they would both would be very interesting for me to research and explore. I began writing my proposal for the music website but I found difficulty when it came to choosing a target audience, I realised my website needed a strong purpose and I was unable to think of one which was based around music. I therefore came to the decision that dance would be the best option. Using dance as my theme allowed me to create a website with a purpose, which is fitness in youth; this is very relevant to today’s society as it is a subject common to the news.
